Meadowglen & YMCA Fun Run and Walk

Pictures from the 2008 Fun Run

The Meadowglen & YMCA Fun Run and Walk involves the community in active recreation while raising funds for the Northern Hospital. The event is open to anyone from serious competitors to schools, families and people with disabilities.

Your support of this year's fun run will assist Northern Health to purchase equipment to be used by Allied Staff across all five Northern Health campuses which include: The Northern Hospital, Bundoora Extended Care Centre, Broadmeadows Health Service and Panch Health Service.

Thank you for helping Northern Health create a healthier Northern community.

Time

8.30am - Registrations
9.15am - Warm Up (Conducted by the YMCA Aerobics team)
9.30am - Start for 10km run. Runners will be setting off in a clockwise direction.
9.35am approximately - Start for 5km run/walk. Runners/walkers are asked to stay off the track until the 10km runners have passed. 5km runners/walkers should then assemble on the back straight of the running track for their start.

The finish time depends on individual participants, but all are welcome to stay around for the whole day.

Course options - walk or run

Participants can choose to run a 5km or 10km course or walk a 5km course through the picturesque Meadowglen Reserve and Mill Park Lakes Estate.

Prizes

There are spot prizes to give away and showbags for all. A professional timing company will be recording finish times and medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters.

You can register for the event via one of the following methods:

  • On the day
    Register in person at the venue between 8.30am and 9.15am.
    Please allow sufficient time to collect timing bands and race numbers.

Early bird registrations

A reduced entry fee is available for all ‘early birds’ until 2 October 2009.  This is available for both online and Mill Park Leisure Centre registrations.

100% proceeds will be donated to The Northern Hospital.

Car parking

Car Parking is available on site - please follow directions of the Volunteer Marshal.

T-shirt collection

T-shirts for early bird adult registrations will be available when the participant registers on race day.

Runner/walker services

There will be water provided for all competitors.

Safety

Please follow the directions of all course marshals – volunteer crossing  supervisors will control all road crossings throughout the course.

Due to safety reasons bikes. rollerblades, skateboards and dogs are not permitted during the race.

First aid

St John Ambulance crews will be available on site.  If you require first aid assistance on the course, please notify a course marshal, or a course bike rider who will be able to radio for help.

Timing

Each participants' time will be recorded electronically via an ankle band to be issued at race day registration.  Please make sure that you return your band, at the completion of your event.

Please note: these bands will only work if placed on your ankle.

Presentation ceremony

The presentation ceremony will commence as soon as all race calculations are complete.

Results

Results will be posted at the event and will also be available online after the event. Visit http://tomato.racetectiming.com/ from 5pm on the day of the event to view results.

Show bag

Participants (limited to 400) will receive a show bag on finishing.
