We’re building a social support facility next to Mernda Village Community Activity Centre.
The social support facility in Mernda will provide day respite for residents over the age of 65. The service will support people with care needs to maintain their independence and participate socially in their community. The program aims to reduce social isolation by providing people that are frail, living with disability, memory loss (dementia), limited mobility, the opportunity to try new activities, meet others, establish links in the community and improve their overall sense of health and wellbeing.
Eligible residents will be aged 65 years and over, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents.
The facility will include a three-room activity centre, with each room accommodating 25 adults.
$2.5 million, including a $1.24 million from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Construction starts early 2021.
Facility is expected to be open by early 2022.
Have your say about the naming of this facility.
