Appointment of Acting Chief Executive Officer

Saturday, November 23, 2019

At a Special Council Meeting held this morning Kelvin Spiller was confirmed as Whittlesea Council’s Acting CEO.

Kelvin has a long and distinguished career in local government in Victoria and around Australia having held 8 CEO roles of which 6 have been in local government, and the most recent ones were at Rural City of Wangaratta, City of Greater Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.

Mayor of the City of Whittlesea, Cr Emilia Lisa Sterjova, said he will waste no time getting started, with Monday 25 November to be his first day as Acting CEO.

“Kelvin is looking forward to meeting with members of the community in the days ahead and I hope everyone will warmly welcome him to Whittlesea.”

The urgent Special Council Meeting was called after Whittlesea CEO Simon Overland three days ago commenced on an indefinite period of leave.

Mr Overland has raised concerns about a number of health and safety matters, which Council will ask the Acting CEO to carefully review.

Council wishes Mr Overland well and hopes that he makes a full recovery.
