Ban on large gatherings and events

Ban on large gatherings and events

Monday, March 16, 2020

The City of Whittlesea has cancelled all Council-run events that will attract large crowds to help reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

This includes the Farmers Market scheduled for this weekend (Saturday 21).

This decision is in line with advice from the State Government, which announced a State of Emergency today banning all non-essential gatherings and events of 500 people or more.

We are also assessing whether other gatherings and events that operate in our City are in the best interest of the community in stopping the spread of coronavirus.
