City of Whittlesea mourns - Vale David Turnbull

Monday, March 30, 2020

Staff at the City of Whittlesea have expressed deep sadness at the passing of former CEO Mr David Turnbull.

David played a pivotal role in shaping the City or Whittlesea as we know it today, leading the organisation from 2009-2016.

He was greatly respected by staff and the community alike for his calm and considered approach even under the most challenging of circumstances.

A pioneer in growing the role of local government advocacy, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Interface Group of Councils, Interface Growth Fund and National Growth Areas Alliance, which all deliver significant Federal and State policy and funding outcomes for all growth areas.

David’s legacy lives on in the City of Whittlesea today.

We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Suzane and children Tessa, Tom, Alice and Angus.

Quote from City of Whittlesea Administrator, Ms Lydia Wilson

“David was a Local Government colleague who I have known over many years. I greatly admired his intellect, his humanity and his calm and considered approach no matter what the issue. He  has left a remarkable legacy of leadership and achievement and will be greatly missed by all.“
