Applications are now open for the annual sustainability program for community groups – SOW (Sustainability Outreach Whittlesea).
The program invites local not-for-profit groups to apply to partner with Council to run up to four environmental education programs.
Past examples have included de-cluttering workshops, a tour of a recycling facility, introduction to bee keeping, affordable energy workshop and green cleaning.
Mayor Kris Pavlidis said the program was an opportunity for residents to see how they could incorporate environmental sustainability into their everyday life.
“We all have a responsibility to look after our environment and our feedback has been that lots of people have implemented changes in their lives after attending a SOW workshop,” she said.
“And one of the benefits of this program is that Council is partnering with local community groups to provide this opportunity. Our staff can help tailor a program to suit your group.”
“I’d encourage community groups who are interested in environmental education to contact us for more information.”
