Council is applying for seven community projects totalling $8.125 million in the latest round of the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

The fund is open to 10 councils in Melbourne’s rural/urban interface, including City of Whittlesea.

Mayor Lawrie Cox said Council had received funding for 19 projects since the fund was introduced in 2015.

“The Growing Suburbs Fund helps Council provide essential infrastructure and facilities that our residents expect and deserve,” Cr Cox said.

“These projects will make a big difference in the day-today lives of our communities which are growing rapidly.”

Applications have been submitted for the following projects:

  • Whittlesea Community Skate Park Activation - $375,000
  • Mernda Village Adventure Park Development - $500,000
  • McLeans Road Kindergarten Upgrade - $500,000
  • Community Energy Efficiency Program - $750,000
  • Streetscape Improvement Program - Stage 2 & 3, Lalor - $1.5 million
  • Whittlesea Public Gardens Revitalisation - $2 million
  • Development of Quarry Hills Regional Parkland - $2.5 million.

Each of the projects will be matched with the same amount of Council funding.
