A photo exhibition celebrating local girls and women will be launched at an International Women's Day celebration this Wednesday 11 March.
Local residents have submitted photos which capture women and girls in the ordinary, extraordinary, in action and in portrait.
The exhibition will be at the Great Hall at the Council Offices in South Morang from 11th to 27th March.
This year's International Women's Day theme is Each for Equal which explores how individuals are responsible for their own thoughts and actions.
Mayor Emilia Lisa Sterjova said the day was an important celebration.
“International Women’s day is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our local, talented women in Whittlesea. As the youngest female Mayor in Australian history, I am passionate about fighting for gender equality," she said.
"The photo exhibition that we are launching on the day showcases some wonderful work which captures women and girls – the ordinary, extraordinary, in action and in portrait.
"I’d encourage people to come and have a look at the exhibition which will be at the Great Hall at the Council Offices until 27th March.”
Celebrations begin at 10.30am on 11th March.
