Federal Government funding changes to the Aged Care system

Federal Government funding changes to the Aged Care system

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

In light of national changes to the way services are funded in the future, local governments around Victoria are reviewing how they provide aged care services.

After careful investigation of all options, Council will continue to provide Commonwealth and State funded aged care services and services to people under sixty five years of age and continue to run our social support programs and services.

Council services, programs and support services that will continue to run:

  • domestic assistance, personal care, respite, social support and delivered meals services
  • social support groups/individual; Support for Carers; Access & Support; volunteer coordination; Vulnerable Persons Register; aged care planning; LEAP program; Seniors Support and Positive Ageing supports
  • in addition, Council will continue to provide a Regional Assessment Service until a government announcement about a future model is made.

From 30 June 2019 Council will no longer provide subsidised plumbing, electrical and regular garden maintenance (lawn mowing). Clients of these services will be contacted and supported to move to another service provider.

Council will continue to monitor the changes the Commonwealth Government is making to the Aged Care sector and keep clients informed.
