Have your say on proposed Bindts Road closure

The City of Whittlesea invites residents to share their feedback on a proposal to permanently close a section of Bindts Road in Wollert to through traffic to align to the long-term strategy for the local road network and improve road safety.

Bindts Road, between Harvest Home Road and Lehmanns Road, is currently closed and Council recommends the permanent closure of this gravel section, as it does not provide direct access to any residential properties.

There have been a number of crashes along Bindts Road since 2014. The closure of Bindts Road, between Harvest Home Road and Lehmanns Road, is proposed to help reduce the risk of future accidents by ensuring motorists travel on established roads intended for more vehicles.

City of Whittlesea Administrator Chris Eddy said that the road network in Wollert is developing in line with Council’s plans for the booming suburb.

“Council’s Precinct Structure Plans set a clear vision for how the road network will be developed to accommodate population growth now and into the future,” Mr Eddy said.

“We’re committed to providing residents with a smart, connected transport network. The closure of Bindts Road will ensure that motorists access the safest available roads to get them where they need to be.”
