Mernda drive-through testing site still open

Mernda drive-through testing site still open

Friday, August 07, 2020

The drive-through COVID-19 testing station at Woodland Waters Reserve on Waterview Drive, Mernda is continuing to test residents daily from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Testing is currently available for people with the following symptoms, however mild: fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and loss of sense of smell or taste.

The test takes around a minute and involves a swab from the back of your throat and nose.

Bookings are not required in order to be tested. The test is free for everyone. You should bring at least one form of identification – for example, your Medicare card, driver’s licence or student ID.

If you have symptoms, you must return home immediately after the test and remain in self-isolation until you receive your test result.

For everyone living in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire there are only four reasons to leave home:

  1. Shopping for food and supplies
  2. Care and caregiving
  3. Exercise
  4. Study and work, if you can't do it from home.

Based on the latest advice from the Chief Health Officer people are now required to wear a face covering when leaving home for one of the above four reasons.

This new rule will be enforced from 11.59pm on Wednesday 22 July. The fine for not wearing a face covering will be $200.
