The new park and playground on Oakbank Boulevard in Whittlesea is now open.

With lots of play equipment, a sheltered picnic area with a barbecue and a new path, Oakbank Boulevard Park is sure to become a popular community meeting space.

A mini concrete circuit track has been installed in the park for kids to ride their bikes on, as well as premium playground equipment including a birds nest swing and a round supanova.

City of Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Kris Pavlidis said she thrilled to officially open the new park last week and hoped that residents will enjoy all the new features.

“Not long ago this site was just an open paddock and now it’s a place for parents to bring their children, friends to catch up, and families to come together.”

Cr Pavlidis said many of the park’s features were guided by community feedback and ideas.

The park was funded with a $220,000 contribution from the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, which was matched by the City of Whittlesea.

This project is just one of a few planned for Whittlesea township. Council will soon start work to redevelop Willow Park, on Willow Court and Roslyn Way.
