The City of Whittlesea has congratulated the State Government on a 2018/19 State Budget well done, after attaining some fantastic wins.
Mayor Kris Pavlidis has declared it a road party for the growing municipality after the announcement of a $2.2 billion Suburban Roads Upgrade package.
“Congestion is the number one issues facing our community so it is very pleasing the State Government has committed to easing congestion for residents,” Cr Pavlidis said.
“Council and our residents have been working hard to lobby for better roads and we are delighted that the State Government has committed to deliver more of our road priorities.
“The duplications of major roads mean our residents can spend less time in traffic and more time with their families.”
Some of Council’s major road priorities included in the package are:
“There are a number of other budget wins including a land acquisition program for future schools and increasing the Growing Suburbs Fund to $50 million to fund community infrastructure in Melbourne’s fast outer growing suburbs,” Cr Pavlidis said.
“We thank the State Government and our local members of parliament for listening and investing in the City of Whittlesea and we look forward to helping to deliver these projects in a timely manner.”
