The laws are changing and from 1 July 2019, you will no longer be able place your e-waste items into your regular rubbish bin.
E-waste contains hazardous materials such as lead and mercury, which can leach into soil and groundwater, or release into the air creating long-term contamination issues.
But the good news is up to 90 per cent of your phone, TV and computer can be recycled to make new products.
Items can be recycled for free at Hanson's Wollert Landfill or Surplus Recycling Solutions in Thomastown.
