Wollert East community centre on track for new year opening

Wednesday, September 29, 2021

Wollert residents will soon have a modern new space to meet, socialise and access essential services, with Council's state-of-the-art community centre on De Rossi Boulevard set to open in January.

Council’s newest community hub will help support the booming population in the City’s north with the inclusion of a purpose-built three‑room kindergarten, two fully-equipped maternal and child health consulting suites, a spacious community hall for hire and a beautifully-landscaped outdoor area.

The innovative facility is packed-full of sustainable features including an e-water unit for chemical-free cleaning, solar panels and large skylights to encourage the use of natural light.

City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said that Council is eager to welcome residents into the centre in the new year.

“With almost 15,000 new residents expected to move into Wollert and Epping North in the next five years, it’s so exciting to have this wonderful space to support our growing community,” Ms Wilson said.

The community centre in Wollert East is a partnership between the City of Whittlesea and the Victorian School Building Authority. The Victorian Government is providing $2.75 million towards the development located next to Wollert Primary School, which is also set to open in 2022.

Locating early childhood services adjacent to the school will help local children transition from preschool to school and reduce the number of drop-offs for parents.

Three and four-year-old kindergarten applications are now open. Visit to apply.

Construction of the community centre in Wollert East is currently on hold due to the Victorian Government's temporary construction lockdown.
