Quality Area 1: Educational program and practice
Learning stories, narratives, assessment of learning, goals for children's learning, planning cycles, summative assessment – what do these documents have in common? They all started with noticing and observing the child.
If our observations of children's learnings are not founded on a clear understanding of what to write down, when to write it down, how to write it down, and what to do with it; then we are simply gathering lots and lots of information that's of no value to you, the child, or the family.
