Melbourne Polytechnic - Welcome Expo 2020

Melbourne Polytechnic offers a different way to learn. We have been delivering vocational training since 1912 and we're one of the largest providers in Victoria.

About Melbourne Polytechnic

Practical learning

We offer a wide range of innovative TAFE (VET) and Higher Education (Degrees) that prepare students for the workplace. With courses that focus on practical skills and hands-on experience, our students graduate with the knowledge they need to thrive in their careers.

Teachers from industry

Our teachers are passionate and established in their professions and they're here to guide students in theirs. We know that circumstances can create barriers to learning, so we offer our students personalised pathways, flexible study options and learning support.

Excellent training facilities

Our campuses boast some of the best training facilities in Australia. Many of our classrooms and workshops simulate real-work environments. In many courses, students have an opportunity to provide services to the public and industry while learning.

About Melbourne Polytechnic's Skills and Jobs Centre

Melbourne Polytechnic's Skills and Jobs Centre is a state-funded community service providing FREE expert advice on training and employment opportunities.

The Centre works with people exploring career options and helps people in the community to access pathways to employment.

This year, we have been assisting clients remotely and the feedback has been very positive! The following are eligible for these services:

  • Unemployment or retrenchment
  • Parents returning to work
  • Newly-arrived immigrants
  • Humanitarian Visa holders
  • Changing careers
  • Apprenticeships and traineeships
  • Prospective students

We hold one-on-one career advice sessions, with either our Career Counsellor or our Course and Pathway Advisor depending on what your goals are. These sessions run for 45 minutes and they can be booked through the MP website.

The Skills and Jobs Centre also delivers career readiness workshops such as resume writing, building and maintaining a positive self-concept, setting and achieving career goals, and shares useful information like the Working for Victoria government initiative.

Skills and Jobs Centre strongly believe that connecting with the community is really important, especially during this tough time and the workshops are an opportunity for the participants to connect and get to know all the services offered by us.
