Social Support Activity Groups

Social Support, planned activity groups can provide respite for a carer and bring some good old fashion happiness to kinder kids as part of our intergenerational program.

The Illoura Club (Council’s Planned Activity Group) is located at the newly renovated Barry Road Community Activity Centre.

Groups run Monday to Friday, and you can enjoy a range of activities with the assistance of our staff.  Lunch can be provided, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Our planned activities include culturally appropriate groups for Macedonian and Italian residents as well as a men’s group.  We also have a memory support (dementia specific) group.

Council also have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders group – EMAD which stands for Elders Motivated and Deadly.  EMAD runs twice a week on Wednesday and Thursday at Barry Road Community Centre and will often mingle with the Illoura Club participants and intergenerational activities.

Activities include:

  • Sing-a-longs or listening to music
  • Ball games
  • Crafts
  • Cooking
  • Chair-based exercise
  • Occasional day trips
  • Intergenerational activities with a local kindergarten.

Our staff provide bus or taxi transport to and from the clubs.
