Highlights

Victoria’s Child Safe Standards are a set of mandatory requirements to protect children and young people from harm and abuse. The Child Safe Standards (the Standards) commenced in Victoria in January 2016, with new standards coming into force on 1 July 2022. Most organisations that work or volunteer with children and young people are required to meet the Standards. An ‘organisation’ can include a business, group, club, government, not-for-profit or volunteer organisation.

City of Whittlesea is keen to assist local community groups / sporting groups, in becoming Child Safe Organisations. City of Whittlesea will be running information sessions, to assist your organisation with guidance around how to implement policies, procedures and practices that strengthen your capacity to provide a safe and empowering environment for children and young people.

It will also provide you with information around your legislative requirements, as an organisation that engages with children. We encourage you to attend an information session, in order to gain a greater understanding of what are the best practices to best reduce potential risks, in order to keep children safe.

Recommended for: parents/carers of children
