Cancellations and variations to building applications

Cancellations and variations to building applications will depend on the status of your application:

  • If you wish to cancel your building permit application and will not be proceeding with construction, please email buildplan@whittlesea.vic.gov.au stating project address and justification. 
  • If the application has been allocated and an assessment has begun when you cancel your application, you may be entitled to a partial refund.  This is on a case by case basis only and will be reviewed once Council has been contacted in writing.
  • If a building permit has been issued, there are no refunds for cancellations.  Notification in writing is still required.
  • Any major variations to a design prior to a building permit being issued may incur additional fees.
  • Any variations/changes to a design after a building permit has been issued requires a formal application for Variation to a Building permit and the associated fee to be paid.
  • Any report and consent application that has been assessed/issued, will not be refunded if cancelled.
