Amendment - 149 McKimmies Road, Bundoora

What is the proposal?

Council has a received a request to prepare an Amendment to the Whittlesea Planning Scheme to facilitate the rehabilitation and future development of the former quarry at 149 McKimmies Road, Bundoora.  

The Amendment would provide new planning controls to guide the future development of the site for residential use to provide for a diversity of housing options on the site. The current Industrial Zone will be replaced with a Residential zone. Land adjoining the Darebin Creek would be protected as part of a waterway corridor.

Who has requested the Amendment?

The Amendment request has been received on behalf of Intrapac Property.

Where is the site?

The Amendment applies to land at 149 McKimmies Road, Bundoora as shown in the map below. The site is a former quarry bounded by McKimmies Road to the north, Darebin Creek to the south and west and the future E6 road reserve to the east.

Where are we at?

Council resolved at the 19th September Council meeting to commence the Planning Scheme Amendment process. Council is currently seeking authorisation to prepare the Amendment from the Minister for Planning.

Next steps

Should Authorisation be granted, the Amendment will go on public exhibition during which Council will exhibit the Amendment documents and seek any submissions to the Amendment. Immediately neighbouring landowners and occupants will be notified of exhibition. A notice will also be included in the local newspaper and Councils engage website will also be updated.
