Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to go for information, programs and supports for LGBTIQ+ young people. Here is a list of services and supports that may be helpful.

LGBTIQA+ Services

This section provides some information and links to key services and supports that can respond to the needs of LGBTIQA+ young people and communities.

 

I Need Support Now:

Provides a phone and webchat based support service for the LGBTIQA+ community. This service is available from 3pm – Midnight 7 days a week.

Rainbow Door is support and referral service for the LGBTIQA+ community. The Rainbow Door can link people in to services to best meet their needs. Support is available via phone, text or email from 10am – 5pm 7 days a week.

Minus 18 is a social connection space for LGBTIQA+ young people. We’re leading change, building social inclusion, and advocating for an Australia where all young people are safe, empowered, and surrounded by people that support them.

Health and Sexual Health Services

DPV Health is a not-for-profit organisation that offers exceptional health care services to people of all ages. DPV are an inclusive organisation that celebrates the diversity of all people within our communities. DPV are Rainbow Tick accredited which means their health services are inclusive, safe and friendly for LGBTIQA+ service users and staff.

Northside Clinic is a General Practice owned and staffed by a number of GPs with years of experience working in Melbourne’s inner north. The clinic is open to all, but has a particular focus on Sexual Health, as well as providing quality medical care in a safe and friendly environment for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and HIV positive communities in Melbourne’s north.

The clinic provides comprehensive testing for and management of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV, as well as a full range of General Practice and Allied Health services that are LGBTQIA+ friendly and accessible.

Formerly known as Family Planning Victoria, SVH operates sexual health clinics as well as training, information and advocacy.

Thorne Harbour Health provide a broad range of services with a focus on general health care as well as specialist HIV and sexual health services, and wellbeing support for the LGBTIQ+ community.

Services also include the Equinox Gender Diverse Health Service. This service provides health care for transgender and gender diverse people across Victoria.

Doctors and nurses provide sexual health services, such as testing and counselling. All services are free and confidential.

RCH’s gender service aims to improve the health and mental health of trans and gender diverse children and young people. The service accepts referrals for children up to 16 years across Victoria. The referral pathway is via a GP referral.
