Deceased (dead), sick or injured animals

If you see wandering, injured animals on the roads or public land, contact the relevant service below. Please note that Council is unable to assist if the animal is dead or injured on private property.

Sick or injured native animals

To report sick or injured wildlife on public land or roads, contact:

Dead (deceased) or injured animals on private property

Council is unable to assist if the animal is dead or injured on private property. The land owner or tenant is responsible for dead or injured animals that are on private property.

Alternate animal disposal services can be found online.

Dead animals on public land and roads

Council can collect any animal, whether it is wild, domestic, or a farm animal that is found dead on roads or public land. Call Council on 9217 2170 and a road crew will come and collect the animal.

Dead animals on VicRoads (declared) roads and property

Council does not remove dead animals on declared VicRoads roads and property, such as freeways, highways and arterial roads.
