The City of Whittlesea is offering free DIY workshops to learn how to build your own cat enclosure in preparation for the new regulations that come in on 1 August 2023.

At the workshops, you will be taken through simple and easy instructions with ideas of what you can build on your property. Options will suit all areas from homeowners, renters, and even small unit courtyards.

Matt, a local handyman, will run each of the sessions and be there to answer all your questions and help you work out what you need and what tools and skills you might need to complete your enclosure.

There will also be City of Whittlesea Animal Management staff there to assist with any questions you have about the new regulations that require your cat to be confined to its owner’s property or under effective control when outside the property. All cats being registered for the first time must also be desexed.
