Participating in sports offers many health and wellbeing benefits including increasing self-esteem, social inclusion and community connections. Despite these benefits, there are low rates of participation of women and girls in all levels of sport.
We're supporting clubs to develop projects that promote and encourage equal participation of women and girls in sports across the municipality.
Grants of up to $3000 (ex GST) are available to sporting clubs who create or enhance opportunities for female participation in sport - as players, coaches, umpires and in club leadership roles.
Sports clubs who are seeking smaller amounts are also encouraged to apply.
The grant round opens Tuesday 31 January 2017, and will remain open until all funds are expended or until 31 May 2017.
Successful applicants will have 12 months to complete their projects.
