Circular Fashion Market: Sunday 21 April

City of Whittlesea Circular Fashion Market is offering a unique shopping experience that combines affordability, sustainability, and style.

Fashion production makes up 10% of humanity’s carbon emissions, dries up water sources, and pollutes rivers and streams.

By getting your shopping fix you can assist to slow fashion and reduce the environmental effects of fast fashion.

Conservation Walk and Talk Series: Forest Therapy

Walk through the scenic conservation reserve nestled in the heart of Epping North, spanning approximately 2-3 hours. This forest therapy experience is crafted to induce relaxation and foster a connection with our senses and surroundings. Unlike a traditional bushwalk, Forest Therapy prioritizes the journey over the destination, offering a deliberate, mindful, and serene approach to immersing oneself in nature. Enjoy a small snack together on completion.

Conservation Walk and Talk Series: Discover the Darebin Creek

Discover the creek's rich history, delve into the accomplishments of the Friends group, and gain insights into the future plans for the creek. Participate in a bird survey as you walk, contributing to the documentation of the various bird species that inhabit the area. The creek is home to numerous birds, and your involvement in recording them is crucial. Come join us to explore the fascinating world of the local creek and its avian residents.

Conservation Walk and Talk Series: Meeting with Mushrooms

For this fungal ecology and identification workshop, you’ll meet Alison Pouliot, an expert in philosophy, zoology and mycology. She is an ecologist, environmental photographer and author and has presented over 850 environmental seminars, forays and workshops in Australia and internationally.

Basic Grafting - 2024 Sustainable Communities Workshop Series

Learn from garden expert, Kat Lavers how to graft your own fruit trees and extend your season to produce early, mid and later in the season. Apple, lemon and lime trees will be discussed.

Pickling and Curing Olives - 2024 Sustainable Communities Workshop Series

Join food and garden expert, Maria Ciavarella who will cover the theory of preserving green and black olives before the group breaks to do some cooking in the kitchen. Each person will take home one jar of olives.

Seed Saving - 2024 Sustainable Communities Workshop Series

Join food and garden expert, Maria Ciavarella who will lead a presentation on how, when, and which seeds to save and store. Participants will take home notes and seeds hand-gathered from Maria’s vegetable stock.

Energy Bill Assistance Sessions

Are you struggling with your energy bills? If so, join Anglicare Victoria, hosted by City of Whittlesea’s Sustainable Environment, to take action.

The Victorian Government’s Energy Assistance Program is a free service to help Victorians having trouble paying their energy bills.

After the session, attendees will have time to access one-on-one support from Anglicare and can walk away feeling empowered to take control of their energy bills themselves.

Designing Your Home Food Garden - 2024 Sustainable Communities Workshop Series

Join home food production expert Kat Lavers and learn how to design a food garden for maximum yield with minimal effort, whether in pots on a rented balcony or in a larger suburban garden.

Produce Gardening for Renters - 2024 Sustainable Communities Workshop Series

Want fresh vegetables but don't have the space or skills? Food and garden expert Maria Ciavarella will lead a presentation on growing produce at home while renting or having little outdoor space for planting.
