State Projects

A number of major projects, delivered by the Victorian Government, are currently underway in the City of Whittlesea.

The below road projects are being delivered by Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV). These projects are aimed at reducing travel times and traffic congestion, improving safety, and connecting communities.

Yan Yean Road upgrade

Yan Yean Road upgrades will continue between Kurrak Road, Yarrambat to Bridge Inn Road, Doreen. This will include adding extra lanes, installing traffic lights, service lanes for residential access and safety barriers and building new shared walking and cycling paths. Read more

Bridge Inn Road upgrade

Bridge Inn Road will be upgraded between Plenty and Yan Yean Roads and will include adding extra lanes, installing traffic lights and safety barriers and building new shared walking and cycling paths. Read more

Craigieburn Road upgrade

The Craigieburn Road upgrade involves adding extra lanes on Craigieburn Road between Hume Highway and Mickleham Road as well as upgrading intersections and building better walking, cycling and public transport connections. Read more

Epping Road upgrade

The Epping Road upgrade involves adding extra lanes on Epping Road between Craigieburn Road East and Memorial Avenue, installing new traffic lights at Park Street, upgrading intersections and building better walking and cycling connections. Read more

Level Crossing Removal – Keon Parade, Reservoir

As part of Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project, the Keon Parade level crossing will be removed and a new Keon Park Station built. Read more

Yan Yean to Bald Hill Pipeline

Melbourne Water is planning to build a new pipeline to meet growing demand for water in the northern and western suburbs of Greater Melbourne and to support development in the planned growth area. The project involves construction of a 20km pipeline from the Yan Yean Water Treatment Plant to the proposed Bald Hill, Kalkallo tank site. Read more.

Plenty Gorge Park upgrades

Plenty Gorge Park is being upgraded to build the new Plenty River Trail – connecting pedestrians and cyclists travelling between Doreen and Bundoora. Five new lookouts that offer spectacular views will also be built, while two new bridges will provide additional river crossings for visitors to explore more of the scenic bushland. Read more
