Aboriginal Employment Pathways Strategy and Action Plan

Our Aboriginal Employment Pathways Strategy and Action Plan provides a road map to foster a culturally appropriate and inclusive workplace in the City of Whittlesea for Aboriginal people.

Our Aboriginal Employment Pathways Strategy and Action Plan provides a road map to foster a culturally appropriate and inclusive workplace in the City of Whittlesea for Aboriginal people. Employment is critical to reducing the social, economic and health gaps experienced by Aboriginal people.

The strategy will build a workplace in which Aboriginal people are valued and respected and will create opportunities for skill and career development in a supportive environment.  The strategy aimed to make Council an employer of choice for Aboriginal people.

Our target is to increase the proportion of Aboriginal people employed at Council to 1.5 per cent by October 2017. We will focus on four key areas to achieve this;

  • Workforce environment and cultural competency
  • Attraction, Recruitment and Selection
  • Retention and Career Development
  • Resources, Governance and Reporting
