The City of Whittlesea has endorsed its Annual Report 2024-25, showcasing how, together with our community, partner organisations and all levels of government we are building a place for all.

As our municipality continues to grow, so too do the needs of our community. From sporting facilities, roads and community centres that help us stay active, get around and access services, through to events, open spaces and a strong local economy that supports wellbeing, connection and employment, the report highlights how Council is building what is needed, now and for the future.

Over the past year, we have continued to create new spaces and facilities where people can come together, connect and feel a sense of belonging.

More than 113 projects were delivered through our $107 million capital works program, including the redevelopment of playgrounds, upgrades to shopping precinct streetscapes and sporting grounds – such as the new FIFA-accredited synthetic soccer pitch at Partridge Recreation Reserve in Lalor – as well as key road projects including the signalisation of Plenty Road and Everton Drive in Mernda. New walking and cycling paths, like the stunning trails through the bunjil nganga Parkland Quarry Hills have also enhanced opportunities for active lifestyles.

Council continues to invest in facilities that bring people together and support community wellbeing, with significant progress made on major infrastructure projects such as the Aboriginal Gathering Place at bunjil nganga Parkland Quarry Hills, stage two of the regional sports precinct in Mernda and new community centres in Donnybrook and West Wollert.

As part of our ongoing commitment to a greener and more sustainable future, more than 8,200 trees were planted across our municipality.

Council also worked closely with the community to build capacity and resilience through education programs, leadership opportunities and community grants – ensuring residents are empowered to help each other grow.

This commitment extends to our own organisation, with Council continuing to build an engaged and passionate workforce dedicated to delivering the best outcomes for our residents.

Highlights from the Annual Report 2024-25 include:

  • reviewing and renewing the Whittlesea 2040 vision
  • establishing a Waste Taskforce to undertake targeted operations aimed at reducing illegal dumping of building and construction waste
  • completion of the building works for the Aboriginal Gathering Place in bunjil nganga Parkland Quarry Hills

Quote attributable to City of Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Martin Taylor:

“The City of Whittlesea Annual Report 2024-25 outlines the tangible outcomes of our work, the priorities we’ve delivered, and the collective efforts that continue to shape our city.

Throughout this report you will see clear examples of partnership in action, how alongside our residents, community groups and other levels of government we are building a city that values inclusion, participation and connection.

As our population grows, our focus remains on meeting todays needs while preparing for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow. We are building the infrastructure, services and programs that support every stage of life, ensuring that the City of Whittlesea continues to be a place that people are proud to call home.

As we look to the year ahead, our focus remains clear – to create a city that offers opportunity to all. A city that is safe, inclusive and vibrant, where people can live, work, learn and play locally. A city that continues to evolve, adapt and thrive together.

Together we are building a stronger, fairer more connected city. Not just for today but for generations to come.”
