Emergency Relief Centre now open: Whittlesea Community Activity Centre
Published on 10 January 2026
The City of Whittlesea has opened an Emergency Relief Centre (ERC) at the Whittlesea Community Activity Centre, 57–61 Laurel Street, Whittlesea.
The ERC is available for people who are evacuating from the fires impacting areas surrounding the City of Whittlesea and need a safe place to go, rest, or access basic support.
Small pets that are secured on a leash or in cages can be accommodated. Larger animals can be accommodated at the Whittlesea Showgrounds, but owners are responsible for their care.
The ERC at the Civic Centre, South Morang, will be closed at 6pm today and any people who arrive will now be redirected to the Whittlesea Community Activity Centre.
