Better facilities boost experience at Thomastown Library

Major amenities and lighting upgrades at Thomastown Library are making the facility safer, more inclusive, and more welcoming for the community.

The project replaced ageing toilets with four all-gender, ambulant and accessible toilets, a family change room and new fixtures.

New energy-efficient LED lighting has also been installed to make the library brighter, safer and more comfortable for visitors.

The foyer has also been refreshed with new flooring and entry matting to improve the overall look and feel of the space.

The upgrade strengthens the library’s role as a vibrant community hub by supporting new programs and activities and improving the experience for visitors.

The $757,000 upgrade improves access and comfort for people of all abilities, helping ensure the library remains an accessible space for everyone.

The City of Whittlesea contributed $460,000 towards the project, while the Victorian Government provided $297,000 from its 2024-25 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
