Business Concierge
Starting or expanding a business is an exciting journey. Council’s Business Concierge service is here to make the process straightforward by offering guidance, early advice and a single point of contact to help you understand council requirements.
Whether you’re launching a new idea, changing how you operate, or expanding into a new location and are unsure what is required, we will work with you to identify the permits, approvals and registrations you may need.
Business Concierge offers assistance with the following:
- Identify which council permits and approvals may apply to your business
- Explain planning, building, health and regulatory requirements
- Help you understand processes, approximate timeframes and likely costs
- Coordinate advice from relevant council departments
- Connect you to council’s business resources, programs and other supports.
This service is designed to save you time, reduce uncertainty and support your success from the start.
What is required when you contact the Business Concierge
To provide information and guidance, we will ask for the following information:
- The products or services you intend to offer
- The location you intend to operate from
- Any changes or modifications to the premise you are proposing
- Other business operational information, i.e. staffing numbers, hours of operation, etc.
Alternatively, you can pre-fill out the Council business self-assessment checklist form. The Business Concierge will contact you within 2 business days of receiving this.
Next steps
Once Business Concierge has all the relevant information, we may need to gather further information from different departments of council to be able to provide you with relevant guidance.
If the requirements or permits require multiple applications to council, a business pre-application meeting may be scheduled with you. During this meeting, staff from relevant departments will assist you in evaluating the suitability of your proposed location, identifying the necessary permits and registrations, estimating associated costs, and determining if any additional information is required.
