City of Whittlesea’s official Which Bin? app makes bin day easy. 

Use the Which Bin? app to:

  • Check your bin collection day 
  • See which bin goes out each week 
  • Set reminders to put your bins out 
  • Access waste services available to you 
  • Search the A-Z waste and recycling guide to check which items belong in each bin 
  • Get alerts for public holiday changes or service disruptions
  • Keep updated on recycling collection events

How do I download the app?

You can download the Which Bin? app for:

How do I add my address?

This app works for addresses in City of Whittlesea only. 

When you open the app for the first time: 

  1. Click 'Add location'
  2.  Start typing your address 
  3.  Select your address from the list.

You can add additional locations later if needed. 

If your address does not appear: 

  • Search using just your street name
  • Then add the street number manually on the next page.

Why do I need to enter my address?

Providing your address allows the app to show information specific to your property, including: 

  • your bin collection schedule 
  • notifications about service disruptions or delays
  • information about kerbside collection services 
  • a personalised 12-month bin calendar for your collection days.

You do not need to create an account, and the app does not collect additional personal information.

Can I add multiple address?

Yes, you can add many different addresses to the Which Bin? app. 

To add another location: 

  1. Tap the + button at the top of the app
  2.  Add location.

Or:

  1. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner
  2.  Select ‘Add location’.

How do I find out how to dispose of an unwanted household item in the app?

Find the right way to dispose an unwanted household item by: 

  1. select ‘A-Z guide’ from the menu
  2.  use the search bar to type in the name of the item. 

For example, if you type in “cardboard”, the app will tell you it belongs in the recycling bin or can be taken to a recycling station for free.

How do I download the 12-month bin calendar?

You can download a personalised 12-month bin calendar by: 

  1. going to the 'Services' tab in the app
  2. select to download the 12-month bin calendar.

The calendar can be printed on a single A4 sheet of paper.
