The City of Whittlesea is seeking expressions of interest from local businesses to take part in a six-month Food Organics Recycling Trial. The trial aims to reduce food waste sent to landfill and support more sustainable practices across our community.
This initiative offers businesses the opportunity to demonstrate leadership in environmental sustainability by diverting food waste from landfill and contributing to a more circular economy.
Why get involved?
By joining the Food Organics Recycling Trial, your business could:
- reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfill
- lower waste management costs through reduced landfill fees
- meet sustainability targets and enhance compliance
- access tailored collection services designed for your operations.
Businesses that take part will receive six-months' worth of free food and garden waste bins, customised waste collection services, staff training, and ongoing support. Food waste collected will be sent for composting rather than landfill, helping reduce disposal costs and create a healthier, cleaner community.
Feedback from participating businesses will help shape the future of waste programs in the City of Whittlesea.
Who can apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from a variety of businesses, including restaurants, food producers, offices, manufacturers, retailers, and service providers. To be eligible, businesses must be located within the current collection areas of the City of Whittlesea and hold a valid ABN and the required local permits.
Interested businesses are encouraged to email their expression of interest to resource.recovery@whittlesea.vic.gov.au
