The City of Whittlesea is one of seven councils calling for critical upgrades to transform the transport system in Melbourne’s north.
The Northern Councils Alliance (NCA) is seeking urgent investment to improve public transport, connectivity and active transport networks across the rapidly growing region.
Along with the municipalities of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Merri-bek, Mitchell and Nillumbik, the City of Whittlesea is asking residents and businesses to help make a difference.
As part of the Connect Melbourne’s North campaign, community members are encouraged to share their experiences travelling via road, train, tram, bus, bike or on foot.
The NCA campaign is advocating for improvements including:
an efficient, connected bus network that matches how people live and work
investment in rail projects such as the Upfield Line extension and Wollert rail
safer walking and cycling paths linked across Council boundaries
east-west connectivity to improve access to jobs and services
better access to health infrastructure such as the Northern Hospital
Investment in large road projects such as Hume Freeway extension and the OMR/E6.

“Our residents deserve better, and with your help we can achieve meaningful change.”

“Whether you’re stuck in traffic every morning, or your child can’t get to TAFE, or your bus doesn’t turn up, your story matters. We’re asking you to share it.”
