Further support provided through Council’s Community Grants program
Published on 19 June 2026
More than $215,000 in community grants was allocated between January-March 2026, providing support for rural landowners, emergency services, individuals and community groups across the City of Whittlesea.
This financial quarter saw the allocation funds for the Environmental Works Grants, where 39 applicants received a total of $76,023.
The Environmental Works Grants provide financial support to rural landowners undertaking projects on their land that protect and enhance remnant vegetation and promote local wildlife conservation. Examples include fencing works, planting of indigenous plants, weed management and the installation of nest boxes to provide habitat for native wildlife.
In addition, more than $125,000 in funding was also provided as part of the Community Based Emergency Services Grant Program to 13 registered brigades or emergency service groups that provide services to the City of Whittlesea community. The grants support local emergency service organisations, including the CFA and SES brigades to deliver community engagement initiatives focused on emergency preparedness, resilience and response.
A further $14,000 was provided to applicants in the individual and small grants categories.
Applications for grants are currently closed, with work underway to update the Community Grants Guidelines for 2026-27. Applications for grants will reopen in July.
