Jemma Armstrong Hops onto PRACC’s Stage in The Wobbly Wallaby

A heartwarming new children’s production based on the work of local author Prema Nishan, will hop into Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre’s (PRACC) Yan Yean Theatre this September.

The production is written and performed by Jemma Armstrong, best known to Australian families as a performer on ABC Kids’ Giggle and Hoot. Armstrong brings the story to life through original songs, movement and hand-crafted puppetry, alongside musician Damian Peck.

The Wobbly Wallaby follows Jem, Damo, Wobbly Wallaby, a Groovy Wombat and the Absolute Bandicoot on a musical adventure about friendship and empathy, sensitively crafted to reflect the experiences of neurodivergent children and families.

Featuring skilled puppetry, catchy songs, lively dances and plenty of interactive fun, the show has been praised as “beautiful” and “thought-provoking” and is aimed at children aged three to eight and their families.

Bringing a locally authored story to the PRACC stage, performed by a familiar face from Australian children’s television, reflects the venue’s commitment to platforming homegrown talent and inclusive storytelling that resonates with the diverse families of the City of Whittlesea.
