We’ve upgraded walking and cycling connections in South Morang to create a safer and more connected local path network. 

About the project

The Ferres Boulevard Active Travel Infrastructure Upgrades project improved shared path connections along Ferres Boulevard and Findon Road in South Morang.

The new paths make it safer and easier for people to walk and ride in the area, while filling a missing link in the existing path network.

What’s happened

The project included:

  • Constructed approximately 340 metres of new 3-metre-wide shared path along the southern side of Findon Road, between Civic Drive and Ferres Boulevard
  • Upgraded approximately 485 metres of shared path along the west side of Ferres Boulevard, between McDonalds Road and Findon Road (2.5 - 3 metres wide).

Why were these works undertaken?

The paths will improve safety and connectivity for people walking and cycling in South Morang. It fills a missing link in the existing shared path network, making local trips easier and more direct.

Were trees removed?

Yes. Six trees were removed to allow for construction of the upgraded and new shared paths.

Who funded the project?

This project is funded by the City of Whittlesea and the Victorian Government’s Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution program.
