The City of Whittlesea Community Grants Program is now open, providing support for local projects, events and initiatives, as well as supporting individuals in leadership, creative arts, sports or environmental initiatives.
Established in 2023, the Community Grants Program offers grants throughout the year across six categories:
- Individual grants of up to $1500 to support artists, sportspeople, environmental champions and emerging leaders to develop their skills, increase participation and contribute to the community.
- Small ($5000), medium ($20,000) and large ($40,000) grants to support groups and organisations deliver projects, events and initiatives that provide broad community benefit.
- Unincorporated group grants of up to $1500 to support newly established groups that are not yet incorporated, by assisting with set-up and operational costs and establishment activities.
- Emergency Grants of up to $2000 to support organisations and businesses respond quickly to unforeseen circumstances that may impact their ability to continue operations or deliver a scheduled event.
An updated Grants Guidelines has also been developed, to provide information to potential applicants on eligibility, selection criteria, requirements for each category and timelines.
To learn more about the City of Whittlesea Community Grants program, free information sessions will be held across various locations over the coming weeks:
- Monday 27 July, 10am-11am, Council Offices, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang
- Thursday 30 July 10.30am-11.30am, murnong Community Centre, 181E Olivine Boulevard, Donnybrook
- Tuesday 4 August, 10.30am-11.30am, Barry Road Community Activity Centre, 36 Barry Road, Thomastown
- Wednesday 5 August, 5.30pm-6.30pm, Mernda Social Support Centre, 70 Mernda Village Dr, Mernda
In addition, a grant writing workshop will be held on Tuesday 11 August, from 6pm-8pm in Epping. Cost is $5 per participant and bookings are essential.
