Thomastown residents are invited to come along to a street party and learn more about plans to upgrade the shopping strip at The Boulevard.
The City of Whittlesea is planning an upgrade to the streetscape at The Boulevard shops in Thomastown and has invited the community to have their say on the proposed improvements.
The draft concept plan includes upgrades to improve access and safety, and to create an inviting space to shop and spend time with family and friends.
New pedestrian crossings, larger footpaths and trading areas, bike hoops, trees and garden beds and improved bus stops are just some of the improvements proposed.
City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said the upgrades would help make the space inviting and enjoyable for the local community.
“The new streetscape will improve community spaces, accessibility and safety for our residents and visitors, making it easier to connect with others and enjoy the space.”
“We encourage the community, including local residents, visitors to the shopping strip and local traders to view the draft plan and provide their feedback to help shape this important upgrade,” Lydia said.
The draft plans will also be on show at The Boulevard Street Party on Saturday 2 December at 213 Station St, Thomastown from 10am to 1pm. Come along, chat to Council staff and have your say in person while enjoying some food and children’s activities.
Following community feedback, Council will finalise the design with the aim to start construction in the 2024-25 financial year.
To view the draft concept plan and have your say online, visit Engage City of Whittlesea website.
Consultation is open until 10 December.
