Council welcomes Findon Road election commitment

The City of Whittlesea has welcomed a $270 million funding commitment from the Victorian Labor Party to upgrade Findon Road through to Epping.

The Victorian Labor Party announced that, if re-elected, it will upgrade 3.6km of Findon Road.

The election promise, made by Victorian Premier Ben Carroll, committed to doubling the lanes, upgrading key intersections and cutting congestion.

Council has long advocated for the upgrade of Findon Road, with the project included as a top priority in its Advocacy Prospectus 2025–29.

Findon Road crosses the City of Whittlesea and provides an important link between the Hume Freeway and Plenty Road. It carries 23,000 vehicles each day and modelling suggests it will carry 35,000 vehicles a day by 2031.

This project will ensure Findon Road becomes a continuous east-west link with significantly increased capacity.

Upgrading the road will improve safety, reduce congestion and make it easier for people to access local services and facilities.
