Half-price dogs August 2026

A week-long promotion to celebrate International Dog Day is sure to get tails wagging.

From 24–29 August 2026, prospective owners can adopt a loving companion for half the usual cost from the wat djerring Animal Facility, helping more dogs in need find their forever homes before the end of winter.

This limited-time offer is the perfect opportunity for locals to welcome a best friend into their family, while also helping create space at the animal facility for new arrivals.

The promotion coincides with International Dog Day, which is held annually on 26 August to celebrate our four-legged friends and raise awareness about dog adoption and welfare.

The reduced price is not the only benefit of adopting from the wat djerring Animal Facility, where all pets are health-checked, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed to ensure the smoothest possible transition to their new home.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed family pet or a bundle of energy to join you on walks, the experienced team at 20 Companion Place in Epping can help match you with a pup that suits your home and lifestyle. Dog meet-and-greets are by appointment only -please contact the facility to make a booking.

Quotes attributable to City of Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Lawrie Cox:

“Every dog deserves a safe, loving environment, and this celebration of International Dog Day provides a wonderful opportunity for residents to bring a new member of the family into their home while supporting animal welfare in our community.

“Giving a dog a second chance is not only an opportunity to change their life; it’s a chance to change yours.”
