Have your say on the future of Nick Ascenzo Reserve
Published on 23 March 2026
The City of Whittlesea is inviting the community to help shape the future of Nick Ascenzo Reserve in Thomastown, with feedback now open on a plan to upgrade this important public space.
The Nick Ascenzo Reserve Master Plan sets out proposed upgrades to facilities and infrastructure to create a safer, more accessible and welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities.
Council is seeking feedback on the plans, which have been informed by two previous rounds of community consultation, to ensure residents’ priorities are met.
The plan proposes:
- improving the park’s facilities through additional picnic areas with seating, shelters, bins and drinking fountains
- improving the park’s accessibility by constructing wheelchair-accessible pathways and facilities, and introducing signage around the reserve
- improving the park’s safety through upgraded lighting and clear visual sightlines
- increasing tree cover and biodiversity to make the reserve more appealing for residents and visitors alike
- improving enjoyment of the park by increasing opportunities for social connection, interactions and recreational activities.
Feedback is open until 19 April 2026, and residents and visitors are encouraged to share their views.
All feedback will help inform the final plan and recommended upgrades, which are expected to be presented to Council for endorsement in mid-2026.
