Help shape the future of the Edgars Creek corridor
Published on 20 June 2025
The City of Whittlesea is inviting residents to have their say on a vision to enhance the health and accessibility of the Edgars Creek corridor.
Council voted at Tuesday night’s Council Meeting to seek feedback from the community on the draft Edgars Creek Corridor Landscape Improvement Plan.
Edgars Creek is a tributary to the Merri Creek that flows for about 13 kilometres through the City of Whittlesea from Wollert to Epping, Lalor and Thomastown.
The draft plan provides for improved open space, better biodiversity opportunities such as trees and gardens, new infrastructure to support active lifestyles and places for people to connect.
With specific actions outlined across six precincts, including planting native vegetation and building paths, the draft plan builds on the Thomastown and Lalor Place Framework and aims to create a more connected and welcoming corridor along the creek.
Residents are invited to attend one of a series of face-to-face community pop-up sessions to be held during the public exhibition period between 20 June and 18 July 2025.
Feedback on the draft plan can also be provided through Council’s online Engage platform via a short survey.
Quotes attributable to City of Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Martin Taylor:
“The Edgars Creek corridor is a special feature of our municipality and loved by our community. This draft plan provides a clear vision for how we can enhance its health and natural beauty,” he said.
“Our plan will help restore and protect the creek, create safer access for everyone and improve our local environment.
“I encourage residents, groups and organisations to view the draft plan and share their feedback.”
