See Thomastown in a new light at Walking Thomastown

Thomastown will come alive after dark as Walking Thomastown returns for another year, bringing the community together for a free night-time journey through a trail of light, art and live performance.
The family-friendly event invites residents to step outside, connect with their neighbours and experience a familiar part of the city in a completely different light. It reflects Council's ongoing commitment to creating welcoming, connected public spaces where community and culture can be experienced together.
A 1.6-kilometre illuminated trail will guide visitors from Main Street Recreation Reserve through to Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum and Heritage Garden. Along the way, they can discover large-scale projections, colourful art installations, neon and lantern displays, live music, roving performers, local art and food stalls.
The self-paced format makes the event accessible and enjoyable for the whole community, including families, older residents and first-time visitors. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.
Now a much-loved annual event, Walking Thomastown celebrates the people, places and stories that make the local community unique.
Walking Thomastown takes place from 6-9pm on Saturday 29 August 2026.
