Statement from the Mayor

On behalf of Council and the community I wish to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the person who died at Mernda last night.

This incident is deeply distressing for all those involved as first responders and for the people who witnessed it. There is no place for violence in our community.

I have requested a full briefing from Victoria Police, at the appropriate time, on any matter that may involve us at a Local Government level, and not interfere with the role of police.”
