Statement from the Mayor – Nepal floods

The City of Whittlesea extends its deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the recent devastating floods and landslides in Nepal.

Our City is home to a large Nepali community who we know are grieving and anxiously waiting for news of loved ones.

As the situation has unfolded this week, it has become clearer the scale of the devastation to communities, homes and critical infrastructure, which has left thousands of people needing shelter, food, clean water and medical assistance.

Our thoughts are with all those impacted by these devastating events and we acknowledge the profound impact on people across our community.

Vigil for Nepal: Standing Together in Solidarity

The Whittlesea Interfaith Network invites the Nepalese community and the wider community to come together for a Vigil for Nepal in response to the recent tragic events affecting Nepal and surrounding areas.

The vigil will provide an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives, support families and communities affected by this tragedy, and stand in solidarity with the Nepalese community during this difficult time.
