The Melbourne Basant Festival will be taking place on Sunday 29 September 2025 at Mernda Recreation Reserve, Schotters Road. This event is run by the Pakistani Society of Australia and is proudly supported by the City of Whittlesea through our Community Grants Program.

The City of Whittlesea has issued a permit for this event. It is expected to attract a large number of attendees and may involve temporary disruptions in the surrounding area, including:

  • Road closures or traffic changes
  • Loud noise or fireworks which may impact your pets, please keep them inside during this time
  • Increased foot traffic and parking demand

We encourage residents and local businesses to plan ahead and take note of these disruptions. Signage and traffic management will be in place, and all efforts have been made to minimise inconvenience.

This event is a celebration of our vibrant community, and all are welcome to attend. The City of Whittlesea is committed to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all.
