New playground proves a hit

Riverside Reserve in South Morang has been transformed into a modern and welcoming space for people of all ages to get active and connect with their community outdoors.

The park and playground at Riverside Reserve in South Morang has undergone a massive $898,000 redevelopment.

City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator, Lydia Wilson, officially opened the revitalised park in October 2022.

Playground features

The new playground features a range of attractions designed to appeal to children of all ages and abilities, including:

junior embankment slide
see-saw
swing set with junior and toddler seats
standalone birds nest swing set
inclusive roundabout/spinning carousel which can accommodate wheelchairs and up to six users at a time
balance beams and tunnels
large play tower with inclined rope play and tunnel slide
monkey bars
25m flying fox
nature play area including vertical and horizontal log steppers, balance log runners and two log teepees
basketball half court
connected walking paths
shelter, barbecue, and picnic settings
new trees and landscaping.
