Edgars Creek Recreation Reserve

• A second competition-compliant AFL/cricket oval

• Raised pedestrian crossings at key access points
• Improved pedestrian and cyclist connections
• Safer vehicle access into and out of the reserve
• LED lighting designed to minimise light spill and enhance user safety

The project will:

• Address the shortage of sporting infrastructure in Wollert
• Create new opportunities for AFL, cricket, netball and basketball participation
• Support participation by juniors, women and girls
• Improve access to local sport and recreation facilities
• Increase parking capacity for reserve and community centre users
• Improve traffic flow and road safety around the precinct
• Encourage active lifestyles and community connection
• Support the needs of one of Melbourne's fastest-growing communities

Construction impacts will be managed in accordance with the project's construction contract and all relevant standards and regulations. The contractor will be required to minimise noise, dust and disruption to neighbouring properties, implement dust suppression measures and prevent pollution of nearby waterways.

Works will occur during approved construction hours on weekdays and Saturdays. No works will occur on Sundays, public holidays or during the Christmas and New Year period.

Sports field use and lighting will be managed in accordance with Council's Sports Club User Guide.

• LED lighting designed to minimise light spill to surrounding properties

The reserve will include two vehicle access points:

• Main entry from Macedon Parade at Bunurong Avenue
• Secondary entry from Steen Avenue at Kenmare Approach

Both access points will be supported by roundabouts to improve safety and traffic flow.

Traffic management and parking requirements have been carefully considered throughout project planning and design.

The project includes:

• Roundabouts at the main reserve entrances
• Approximately 215 additional parking spaces
• Improved pedestrian and cycling connections
• Raised pedestrian crossings at key access points

Additional parking is expected to reduce pressure on surrounding streets, particularly during school drop-off and pick-up periods.

Community feedback helped inform the final court line marking arrangement.

• Courts 1 and 2 will be dedicated netball courts.
• Courts 3 and 4 will include both netball and basketball line markings.
• Adjustable basketball hoops will support shared use of the courts.

While tennis generated interest during consultation, existing and planned facilities in the surrounding area were considered sufficient to meet current and future demand.
